I’ve been looking back through my (now massive) archive of as yet un-processed photographs, and found this one from March 2011, taken at Sissinghurst Castle during a visit to this lovely National Trust property. At the time I wasn’t particularly enamoured of any of the photos that I took on that day, especially after I had some technical issues with the camera and thought that it would have to go to hospital (it didn’t in the end, all was fine), but I think those initial hiccups coloured my view of the images I shot.
So re-visited this one today and could see some potential in it, and with the addition of a tone curve in Photoshop and a texture layer from Jerry Jones, it came alive for me. I love it when that happens.
It just doesn’t get ANY better than this, Viveca! Holy smokes, my dear friend, this is just wonderful beyond words! What an incredible find, and your processing with the textures there really brings this to life. Fine Art Photography, indeed!!

Can’t believe you didn’t like the photo back then, bet it was just a matter of time before you gave into this strange, high-only castle and avocado topiarys 🙂 The artistic processing sure adds a great deal to the photo too. It’s almost looks like a beautiful painting.

Terrific composition, framing and artistic processing, Viveca. Love the avocado-shaped topiary. I, too, enjoy digging through old photos yet processed. Sometimes real gems leap out–like this one!
