For the second of our weekend UrbEx outings last weekend, Mark and revisited West Park Asylum. He recently went back there with Jeremy, but I hadn’t been since October 2009 so was expecting to see quite a lot of changes. The first was a high green hoarding around the site, so the previous way in was blocked, but as usual with these places there’s always another way in, this time walking over a fallen tree like a gangplank. We left home early and arrived at around 8am in order to get in before the workmen started, as they are on site every day now, and whilst we gained access to one of the buildings without a problem we soon heard and then spotted construction (or should that be de-construction?) workers in the corridors, so stayed as quiet as we could and were careful when walking in front of windows from where we might have been spotted. It’s only a big game of cat and mouse….
There will be more from West Park coming up here, but this shot was taken at the end of our visit, in one of the garden shelters. I always like to take a ‘crew shot’ if I can, even if it is only Mark and me – it’s good to have a record, a memento, to say veni, vidi, vici.
nice image and a great couple of days out – top snapping except getting caught at the end – OOPS!
It was a pleasure meeting you both yesterday, I had expected our paths to cross more during the day which is why I was so blasé in my goodbye. I look forward to the rest of your shots from the day. I enjoy seeing these external shots so can’t figure out why I too pretty much none throughout my trips there – with the exception of the top of the water tower yesterday, but this was facing away from the site.
