This is an alternative view to ‘Escape’ which was one of the ten images I submitted for my Licentiate panel with the Royal Photographic Society – the previous was shot with my 16mm fisheye, this one with a 24-70 f2.8. The vintage toys were NOT originally at the asylum – Jeremy took them with him to use as props having seen and been inspired by this room on a previous visit. They added a wonderfully folorn air to the shot, in this blue, blue room that appears almost surreal as one door leads to another room that seems remarkably similar. Maybe there really is no true escape from Hellingly, once the place has your heart in its’ grasp?
The toys make this image. Very clean and beautiful.
This shot in fab, I remember this room well and took a number of shots myself, without the doll though. Superb sense of melancholy helped with your use of added textures.
This is another great shot viveca! Im a big fan of old buildings, cars and other assorted images of this kind. Nice composition.
Oh my God, Viveca, this is so compelling. I found myself utterly absorbed in the image for quite some time taking it all in. The use and placements of the props is astounding… I think this is a top drawer image!
